A giant in the EMDR community has passed away today. Dr. AJ Popky. He was an incredible healer, teacher and clinician. I had the great honour of sponsoring him to come to Vancouver and lead a workshop on his Urge DeTUR protocol using EMDR. He had a great sense of humour and a generous spirit. The day that I sponsored his workshop something happened to me. I was so inspired by his use of EMDR and how he changed people's trauma that I made up my mind that day that I would use EMDR to help others and hopefully, maybe take away the great things he taught me. I am so grateful that I got to experience his wisdom. His contribution to the Military community is huge and I hope they give you a send-off! The last thing I remember him saying at the Vancouver conference was " just keep it simple." While that is absolutely true I don't believe that anyone will ever be able to replicate his gift in quite the extraordinary way he did. He was a truly gifted healer. I hope that he is dancing with Francine and all of his loved ones. If there was ever an example of someone who lived a full life I believe it was him. He taught and continued helping right up to the end. I can only hope that I will follow in your footsteps teaching, helping and inspiring.
